Hi again,
Part of our Conflict Evolution Policy is to have third party mediated
discussions. One form this comes in is a Restoration Circle. You
will be learning more about Restoration Circles, and why they are a
great fit for dealing with community conflict.
Christine King, a professional Non-Violent Communications
Facilitator, is great and she is willing to work with us at a
discounted rate. It is going to cost $60 flat but she can charge as
much as $120 an hour.
Her work is invaluable and I feel that anything to help our
relationships to work together is more important than any other expense.
Restoration Circles are a simple and amazing way to deal with any
conflict. The key is to start in a good direction by choosing a
specific act or instance to focus the discussion so that it doesn't
just spin wheels. What happens is that we connect all the other
interconnected issues together though the act that we collectively
choose. It doesn't mean that we aren't going to talk about the many
issues and conflicts that have surfaced, but thats where we start.
So we all need to agree on what act we want to start with. If anyone
would like to suggest one, I have many ideas for what it could be,
but I'm sure you do too, just let me know, and please email it
privately and not on the listserve.
This Restoration circle will be facilitated by Christine King, and so
we need to find a time that works with her schedule.
Everybody in our community of the center is welcome and encouraged to
come, this will be an amazing experience to learn about professional
non-violent restorative communication techniques.
It often creates a safer atmosphere to have many people there, than
just the people who are involved.
Here is her schedule.
This Week:
Wednesday during the Day
Next Week:
Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
She is also available in the morning, but that coincides with the
10-12 yoga classes.
Later:
Friday July 25th (DOOT) at 3pm
Please let me know what times work best for you.
Thanks,
Jay
