Field Outreach & fundraising System Processes:
Find a good location.
Downtown: Intersection with lots of foot traffic and enough room on sidewalk for people to walk past you.
Event: Near the entrance where people go in and out. Make sure your on public land and not trespassing onto the event unless we have permission to be there.
Make sure your documents are all in order. Have easy access to donation forms, Unity Network Cards, and other important Documents
Raise the Unity Flag so that people can see and identify us from a distance.
Hand cards to people as they pass and say something that is engaging without being overly pushy.
"Support inovation"
"Support the 99%"
"Vote in the Community Elections Here" (Only take a minute)
"How do you think we can solve our societies problems?"
or something else creative and catchy
After you have someone engaged, try to get them to focus on supporting on of our programs or projects. The easiest way to do that is to engage them in IdeaFun Prioritization Process or our Community Elections Process. Also some people might be drawn in by the Unity Flag, so you can engage them directly in helping support the Unity Flag Prioritization. Also have the Unity Post Card prioritization
Disclosure: Make sure they know that they can participate just by giving support, no donation is necessary. But also be frank that we can only make tangible change in our current society with money, cause that is how our system works. We are looking for pledges, donations, or pledges of work, time, and collaboration. Also make sure they know we can take credit cards or pay pal right on the spot.
Idea Fun - Just choose a topic that interests you, or that might interest them, or choose 3 to get them interested. Or show them a list of ideas that they can support.
Unity Elections: This will always be our main GO-TO issue when we have it all functional. For the Month, there will be about 2-4 ideas that will have won out from the rest, and those will be the ideas that we publicly push to get more support. Start by asking which one they like best, if they don't like them, then go to other IdeaFun ideas. If they do like them, make sure they know how to support and vote, and also
Unity Flag: Anyone who likes the Unity Flag can make a donation and we will send them a Flag when we create the first version. Currently all Unity Flags are just drafts or examples of what it will look like, as we have not had a final vote. People can vote directly on a phone or iPad.
Unity Post Card - Ask them if there was any recommendations or demands that would be the top priorities to help solve the biggest problems of our society, what would they be? Let them prioritize and vote on.
Focus them on giving a donation.
As soon as they support something, show them that their vote counted for that issue. Then ask them if they would back their support up with money to turn it into a tangible reality. It is perfectly fine if they just want to support it. They can also give money to what ever idea gets the most non-monetary, or monetary support.
If someone gives a donation, keep and talk and talking all you want (within reason depending on the amount of money they donated). If not, then make sure you register their vote, give them a card, answer any major questions they had. Well just one, maybe two questions. Make sure we have their contact info, and politely let them know that we will get in touch with them, and that they can engage and score more ideas online.
